The biography of Lady Huntington & Her Friends or The Revival of the Work of God in the Days of Wesley, Whitefield, Romaine, Venn, and Others in the Last Century is a 19th century biography of Lady Huntingdon, religious leader in the Methodist Church.

We're not sure why, but Huntingdon appears to be the correct spelling of her name, yet the title of the book is spelled "Huntington."

A well-preserved copy with beautiful black and white engravings, the book was published by the American Tract Society in 1853. A great addition to your antique library, or for anyone interested in the history of religion.

Selina Hastings, Countess of Huntingdon (1707-1791) was an English religious leader who played a prominent part in the religious revival of the 18th century and the Methodist movement in England and Wales. She founded an evangelical branch in England and Sierra Leone, known as the Countess of Huntingdon's Connexion. She helped finance and guide early Methodism and was the first principal of Trevecca College, Wales, established in 1768 to train Methodist ministers. With construction of 64 chapels in England and Wales, plus mission work in colonial America, she is estimated to have spent over £100,000 on these activities, a huge sum when a family of four could live on £31 per year
