Vintage Set of 2 German Souvenir Candles "Andenken an Bickesheim" Candles in Original Plastic Wrap | Souvenir of the Pilgrimage Church

These are remarkable well preserved and totally unused tapers from Germany. "Andenken an Bickesheim" translates to "Souvenir of Bickesheim". Bickesheim is a "pilgrimage church" in Germany.

Per Wikipedia "The pilgrimage church "Maria Bickesheim" was preserved, the oldest preserved parts of which date back to the 13th century. It is therefore unclear whether the church originally had anything to do with the "Bickesheim" settlement (the finds mentioned were all made several hundred meters north of the church, not at the church itself). A document from Pope Pius II from 1459 reports that the church was "extra habitationem hominum constructa", i. H. "Built by people outside the residential area" - consequently there was no longer any settlement near Bickesheim at that time."
