Betty Furness Westinghouse Cookbook - 1954 FIRST EDITION Vintage Cookbook - Mid-Century Cookbook
A real find, this is a FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING copy of The Betty Furness Westinghouse Cookbook, published in 1954.
Betty Furness began her career as an actress in the golden years of Hollywood. Like Ronald Reagan she became a celebrity spokesperson for Westinghouse appliances, appearing in many TV ads over the years.
The Betty Furness Westinghouse Cookbook was all part of the Westinghouse promotional campaign. As Betty wrote in the preface, "Until I began doing Westinghouse product demonstrations on television in May, 1949, I'd never realized what a delight and a marvel of convenience a really modern kitchen could be."
Like other corporate cookbooks of the times, this is a 495 page, soup-to-nuts cookbook targeting young homemakers and novice cooks, though they'll all tell you they are equally right for the experienced cook.
