FOR BROADWAY LOVERS! This is an original playbill from the play Joy to the World written by Allan Scott, starring Alfred Drake, Marsha Hunt, Myron McCormick, and Morris Carnovsky. The show opened on Broadway on March 18, 1948. This Playbill is for the week of April 26, 1948, five weeks into its run.

We couldn't find out much about the play, then we discovered why. We found the New York Times review by Brooks Atkinson and he dismissed the play as "a knockabout Hollywood comedy composed almost exclusively of subordinate details and staged like a comic horse-race." Mr. Atkinson admired the cast for their performances, but took the author to task for making "some gestures toward the integrity of the motion-picture industry," but "as a piece of theatre it has no integrity of its own."

A great find for Broadway show fans, especially of the more obscure (and skewered) kind.
