RARE! From turn of the century France, Vieilles Chansons Pour Les Petits Enfants (Old Song for Little Children) was arranged by Ch. M. Widor with stunning illustrations by M.B. De Monvel. This fabric hardcover embossed in gold and black was produced by Plon-Nourrit of Paris in the late 1800s/early 1900s.
Song lyrics are in French so this would be a great way to teach French to young children, or as a beautifully preserved, stunningly illustrated addition to any antique children's book collection.
ABOUT THE ARTIST (Courtesy of Artnet)
Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel (1850-1913) was a French painter and illustrator best known for his watercolours for children's books. He was a major figure in nineteenth-century children's book illustration.
