Recipes from Old Hundred Cookbook by Nellie Brown - Classic, Old New England Inn Recipes!
A delightful cookbook full of old New England recipes from -- what else? -- an old New England inn called Old Hundred Inn located in Southbury, CT. The Inn is no longer there, but the tried and true New England recipes endure through this cookbook authored by the owner/operator, Mrs. Nellie Brown. According to the blog Call Me Book Louse...
"In 1933 Nellie Brown turned her family's summer home into the Old Hundred Inn and restaurant, leaning hard into "old-time New England food" as the selling point. Their specialty? Nellie's modernized version of the chicken pie that sandwiched pieces of chicken and gravy between 2 pie crusts. In short, what we would recognize as a chicken pot pie." (Recipe on page 56.)
Published originally in 1939, this appears to be a later printing by Gramercy Publishing Co.
