The Magic Mountain by Thomas Mann - Alfred A. Knopf 1934 Edition - Hardcover Thomas Mann - German Literature

The Magic Mountain is one of the most important works of 20th century German literature. It is a dark yet gently comic novel of career invalids snowbound in the Swiss Alps - a most appropriate read during these days of quarantine. 

This is the 1935 English language edition translated by H.T. Lowe-Porter. It has been in our family since it was first printed and has a bookplate on the inside cover "From the Library of Lucia R. Asbury". Grandma Asbury was known to have the best library in Augusta, Kentucky and often lent books to anyone who asked.

We're hoping this will find a good home with a lover of Thomas Mann (a favorite of hers).

This book shows a little bit a wear and is slightly frayed at the top of the spine and some of the pages are discolored from age. But overall it is in good condition with crisp, unmarked pages.

It is a 900 page clothbound hardcover and measures 7 3/4" long and 5 1/4" wide.
